NCP opposes biopic on Narendra Modi; says it violates election COC

Soon after the Bollywood movie trailer on the biopic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was out, the opposition on Thursday strongly opposed claiming that it is violating moral Code of Conduct of election. The teaser trailer of the biopic was released on Thursday.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar and BSP president Mayawati's opting out of the Lok Sabha polls is a clear indication of a ceratin victory for the NDA, the Shiv Sena said on Friday. It also claimed Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would spoil the game for the SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh, reasoning the vote bank of the Congress and Mayawati is similar.
In an editorial in its mouthpiece 'Saamana', the NDA constituent said Pawar and Mayawati not contesting was a sign that the road was clear for Narendra Modi to return victorious as Prime Minister.

Elections 2019: Ex-Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir joins BJP

New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Friday joined the BJP in the presence of Union Ministers Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. On the occasion, Gambhir, 37, thanked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for giving him an opportunity to serve the country.
"I am joining this party (BJP) after getting influenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. I am honoured to get the opportunity. I will work to take this country forward and make it a better place to live in," Gambhir told the media after joining the BJP.

School bus hits road barricades; kills cleaner in Goregaon

A 35-year-old cleaner was killed and two students of a private school were injured when their bus brushed barricades erected for the Metro rail construction work in Goregaon on the Western Express Highway, police said on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Umesh Gurav, a police official said. The injured students are in the age group of 12 to 14 years. The bus driver, identified as Ramjit Gaud, 54, was arrested and booked for rash and negligent driving by Vanrai police, he said.

Briton evacuated from ship by Coast Guard after cardiac arrest

A 67-year-old Briton was evacuated from a ocean liner in a medical emergency by the Coast Guard, an official said on Friday. Stephen Woodford, a British national, who was sailing to Abu Dhabi on trans-Atlantic ocean liner RMS MV Queen Mary 2, suffered a cardiac arrest on board following which the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), Mumbai was alerted late Thursday evening, an official said Friday.
A Coast Guard interceptor boat C-158 was diverted towards the Bermuda-flagged ship along with ICGS Amal, a fast patrol vessel of the Coast Guard, the official said.
